CMS has fired Singapore Managing Partner Andrew Stott. Whilst there is mystery as to the precise reasons, the firm has also reported Stott to the SRA, suggesting that the sacking was unlikely to be performance-related.

An SRA spokesman confirmed to RollOnFriday that it was looking "at all relevant information before deciding on any next steps" regarding Stott.

A spokeswoman for CMS confirmed that "a partner has been dismissed from the firm and the circumstances have been reported to the SRA". She said that the decision was made on the recommendations of CMS senior partner Penelope Warne and managing partner Stephen Millar, and that the sacking received the unanimous approval of the firm’s 20 partner board. The spokeswoman added that "we are mindful of the SRA process and serious sensitivities and will not be commenting further at this time".

Stott's leaving party in full swing

Stott was the managing partner of legacy Olswang's Singapore office before becoming managing partner of the merged office when the firms combined in May 2017. His LinkedIn profile states that he left the firm this month and is now CEO of eponymous business Stott Advisory.

Olswang formed an association in Singapore in 2015 by hooking up with Holborn Law, a relationship CMS continued after the merger. At the time, Stott said "we are delighted with our developments in Singapore".

“Mystery as to the precise reasons”... translation: he got caught doing something dirty. I’ll start the Sky bet odds: 4/1 tried to bang a jnr, 3/2 caught doing drugs, 1/6 sh1t on the floor and tried to do a painting, 9/1 got the Singapore Treat from a local and video was sent to partners. Accumulators are available.

So much for integrating Nabarro and Olswang. Only a matter of time before other ex Nabarro and Olswang staff are pushed out.

You need to explain what you mean by Singapore Treat before we can consider if the odds are fair.

What a surprise that the partner was originally from Olswang. Would never have seen that coming.

It must have damn near killed Warne and Miller to do something that wasn’t about getting a gong.
